Vaalivoittoja, vaalitappioita – miten käy rauhalle? »

Kesäkuun alussa käydyissä europarlamentin vaaleissa kolme suurinta puoluetta ja vasemmistoliitto hävisivät yhden paikan kukin. Uusia paikkoja suomalaisedustukseltaan pienenevään parlamenttiin Suomesta saivat vihreät, perussuomalaiset ja kristillisdemokraatit. Rkp piti vanhan paikkansa. Suomen tulokset noudattelivat muun Euroopan trendiä kohtuullisesti. Oikeisto voitti, vihreät kasvoivat, vasemmisto kutistui.

Muun Suomen tavoin myös rauhantyön tekijät suuntautuvat kesälomille – mutta eivät kaikki. Sadankomitea valmistelee hilpeää kesäkiertuettaan rypäleaseiden ja miinojen haitoista tiedottamisen merkeissä. Myös Aseistakieltäytyjäliitto käy monilla festareilla tiedo(s)tuspöydän kanssa. Itse olen ollut yhteistyössä Atlantti-seuran kanssa järjestämässä Nato – Rauhanliikekö? -keskustelua Poriin Suomi Areena -tapahtuman yhteyteen. Lisäksi Rauhanliike järjestää lukuisia muita kesätapahtumia, joista löytyy enemmän tietoa menovinkeistä.

Patrian lahjusepäilyt paisuvat »

Keskusrikospoliisi aloitti huhtikuun lopussa esitutkinnan Patrian Kroatian kauppoihin liittyvistä lahjusepäilyistä. KRP:n tutkimukset Patrian asekaupoista Slovenian ja Egyptin kanssa ovat jatkuneet viime vuoden toukokuun puolivälistä saakka.
